Krill are mainly fished commercially in the Antarctic seas. The total global harvest amounts to 400-450,000 tonnes annually. Most of the krill catch is used for aquaculture, and pet food in addition to Krill oil to nutraceutical industries.
Krill fisheries in the Antarctic is supervised by CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resource)
